The Key To Creating A Good Opinion Response Essay On Gun Politics

Okay, so this should in theory be a VERY easy essay to write. I don’t know a single adult alive that doesn’t have an opinion one way or the other about gun politics. The opinion doesn’t necessarily have to be strong. However, most people have an opinion…All that you are required to do is inform your readership of your own opinion on any given matter. In this case gun politics. How hard can that be? Here is my guide to creating a good paper:

Ensure that your opinion is rational

You are either going to be for gun control, or against gun control. IF you happen to have a very strong opinion either way, then you need to make sure that you can articulate this in a calm, balanced and rational manner. Emotions tend to run very high in this particular debate and while there is some scope for emotion in here, you need to be very careful that you don’t end up sounding completely irrational and hysterical as this will only result in you dropping a grade.

Ensure you understand both sides of the argument

While you might get away with “Because I said, or because I think” in a face to face debate, you are going to have to do a whole lot better than that in your essay. Even though you might completely disagree you are going to need to ensure that you fully understand and to a certain degree empathize with the other side. By doing this your paper is going to come out as sounding a lot more balanced.

Load it with statistics

The gun lobby is more than capable of putting out compelling stats in the same way as the anti-gun campaigners can point to the number of unnecessary deaths. Whereas the against campaign is rooted in real life people getting shot, the pro-gun lobby has history and legislation in the form of the Second Amendment on their side – Whichever way you look at it the arguments are pretty compelling, so you need to ensure that not only do you load it with stats, but that they are as recent and authoritative as they can possibly be.

Use case studies

Again, it doesn’t matter which particular opinion you are expressing, you should easily be able to come up with case studies to back up your argument – this will add an extra layer of credibility to your work. Copyright 2010-2020.
